It's more like $2500 not including airfare. I don't have any specific numbers right now, it still depends on so many factors. Ground transportation (train, car) can vary greatly depending upon how far we are traveling. And hotels can be cheaper in certain parts of the country. So, until we figure out where we're going, it is hard to judge the budget. In fact, I am probably going to work up two different itineraries with prices, and let everyone vote on which itinerary we do.

But one thing to know, July/August is high season and hotels are generally more expensive during this time frame. I, personally, am planning on 3500-4000 for the whole trip - the varation is airfare cost ($2500 not including airfare).

This kitty is scared, too. Do you have any ideas what the hotel and car rental will be? Just a ballpark. I was thinking 2500 for the whole trip. Is that unrealistic?
