You better sit down for this one

I just did a quick check of airfare roundtrip to London for Wednesday, July 29 – Saturday, August 8. It is $1276 PER PERSON on Continental. Other airlines weren’t much better, they’re all about the same.
In fact, I checked other dates and it’s about the same price for the whole summer. Prices start to dip to $980 RT in late September, then get to their lowest prices in the winter. Let’s hope we can catch an airfare sale.

This kitty is scared, too. Do you have any ideas what the hotel and car rental will be? Just a ballpark. I was thinking 2500 for the whole trip. Is that unrealistic?

It’s more like $2500 not including airfare. I don’t have any specific numbers right now, it still depends on so many factors. Ground transportation (train, car) can vary greatly depending upon how far we are traveling. And hotels can be cheaper in certain parts of the country. So, until we figure out where we’re going, it is hard to judge the budget. In fact, I am probably going to work up two different itineraries with prices, and let everyone vote on which itinerary we do.
But one thing to know, July/August is high season and hotels are generally more expensive during this time frame. I, personally, am planning on 3500-4000 for the whole trip – the varation is airfare cost ($2500 not including airfare).
